My Background and Plans

MY BACKGROUND

I have always been fascinated with museum studies, but unfortunately, my university did not offer it as a major. However, my interest in anthropology was sparked by my admiration for Indiana Jones, which led me to pursue it as my major. While it was not as simple as I thought it would be, I discovered information science and found it to be a perfect fit. It gave me the ability to collect data and information and showcase it while learning from it. As a community liaison specialist, I hope to create educational programs for the youth and cultural awareness programs for communities. As a first-generation student, researching and interning helped me figure out my career plans. I have completed my practicum waiver with the help of internships during my undergraduate studies. However, my plans for the future are still unclear after earning my master’s degree.

PLANS

Although I am filled with ideas about my future career path, deciding on what to do with my life remains a challenge. While I initially considered being a cataloger or curator for a museum or library, the job market has proven to be tough despite my years of experience. After a year of teaching, I have set my sights on becoming a data analyst, which I believe would suit my desire for a peaceful life with a remote job. To explore this idea, I am eagerly searching for internships for the upcoming year (2023) or summer. My goal is to graduate by Fall 2022.
